You are always "on the clock". There is an unspoken expectation that you will reply to emails at all hours of the day and all days of the week. Working on the east coast means early morning meetings with Europe/Asia, meetings starting at your lunch hour into the evening with California (where HQ is located), and then sometimes more meetings at night with Asia.
It's very difficult to stand out as an employee or team as almost everyone is an "A player" and almost all teams are firing on all cylinders. For example, launching a new product, generating a substantial pipeline, beating long-standing competitors in the market, and closing a significant amount of business in a <12 month period is an expectation, not an outstanding accomplishment.
While there is a decent amount of promotion from within the organization, certain roles have a somewhat unclear long-term career path.
