Great culture but beware

Pros

Tight knit groups, substantial work experience, reasonable hours.

Cons

In some litigation groups across NY and DC, they are doing layoffs for “performance related” reasons but the speculation is that they are stealth. Also below market pay that isn’t changing anytime soon.

Pros

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The pay is very good. Most firms are not as nice as this one.

Cons

Very corporate - although the party line is that they care about the individuals (and they do a lot to compensate their employees), at the end of the day their priority is the bottom line. Also, they are pushing for return to office, which is not ideal.

Pros

The firm was great to work for. The attorneys are all fantastic, very professional, and very nice to work with. The office manager is friendly, kind, orginaized and all around wonderful to have as a boss. Co-workers are all very friendly and welcoming as well. Overall, I highly recommend working for Venable.

Cons

The only real downside to the firm is that it needs to be less paper oriented. While that is difficult for any law firm to acheive, they are making the push to be more paperless but it is still a work in progress.
