Not a Long Term Job

Pros

Hybrid schedule is great. Benefits aren't bad. Training is good. Coffee machines are fantastic.

Cons

Work-life balance has become a concern. The Firm doesn't pay appropriately- worse for legal professionals. Culture is toxic and senior management are not concerned with the needs of the employees- just the bottom dollar. Inconsistent policies and procedures. Poor employee reward system. The stronger employees are pushed harder, required to perform and assist more, even when burnout is evident.

Pros

- good work life balance - people are generally very respectful

Cons

- old schooled, might need to step up to get more new clients - work trickles down and as a junior, hard to get substantive work

Pros

This review is for the Venable Blue division and not of Venable as a law firm. Decent pay, helpful coworkers, nice offices

Cons

Management sells you a lie when you join, but you soon discover that you've been dumped into a toxic environment. Top management is emotional and like to use fear as a motivator. They hire managers who are unqualified and help to further maintain the culture of treating people like dirt (unless you're one of the blatant favorites, who are promoted regularly and often at the expense of others). Overall there is an air of dictatorship and towing the line is the order of the day.
