Pros

- You will be busy. If you’re looking to work hard and show your talents, you will have the opportunity (don’t expect a lot of praise). - Great benefits. - Some really nice people.

Cons

- Some really difficult personalities and a lack of management response. (You should have tough skin.) - Don’t expect to move up if youre a staff member and you’re not in the BA or DC offices. - Perpetually understaffed.

Pros

Venable has very competitive health coverage benefits. Also, hours are reasonable (average associate billable hours was about 1700 or so at the end of 2017).

Cons

Many partners in the West Coast offices are horrendous. They’re screamers, eccentric or mean, but they’re kept around because they have big books of business. Also, the LA office has a terrible reputation. Other attorneys offer condolences if they hear you came from Venable’s LA office.
