Pros

The PTO is good, the location is pretty good, a few of the people are nice.

Cons

Venable treats their support staff and paralegals like scum. Anything you say that doesn't fall in line with what they want to do is considered a complaint and you are marked for deletion. They make policies without knowing or caring about the effect on the support staff. Management has serious issues with race, they overload employees with color in their skin and do not offer any advancement or pay. The middle managers make life hell for those below them and the attorneys sometimes are abusive but no one makes them stop. It is also a 'sink or swim' place where they don't give you good training. You just have to learn immediately or they let you suffer. You can go to other staff for help but they are tired of being used so they push you away. I understand that but still, it is not a good place to succeed unless you come in as an attorney who is already a counsel or partner.

Pros

Good Benefits. Some nice co-workers.

Cons

They don't care about their employees. Job eliminated after working for them 18 + years. Managers do nothing to keep their best employees. No room to grow in this organization. They will let you go in a heartbeat and don't care.

Pros

You received a good amount of time off

Cons

Working at Venable is very stressful. There is no organization there, management does not value their employees and all managers aren't meant to be managers. There is no opportunity for growth within the company even when you ask for it. They would rather hire someone from the outside than promote the people they have from within. Management doesn't back their employees when it comes to policies and procedures and even when the attorney is dead wrong you still get blamed. The culture of Venable is throw every one under the bus.
