Pros

Pay checks cleared successfully on time

Cons

I’m not sure if the Core Values are intended to be in practice or just in theory to promote the company. Perhaps they are growing at too fast a pace for oversight that allows the intended culture to filter down and have no idea what is really going on in their different locations. Maybe the unhealthy management practices come from the top and it is believed to be best practice. I can’t imagine, but maybe. I left as bewildered as I arrived. Some of my experiences were disturbing at best.

Although we really do appreciate you taking the time to share the review, I’m definitely concerned about the issues you raise here. Our Core Values should absolutely act as guiding principles in all levels of our organization, and although we’re continue to grow as a company, we’re dedicated to them remaining at the forefront of every decision we make. This is the same standard we hold for all Venterra employees. As such, there is absolutely no tolerance for workplace bullying within our ranks, and we fully agree that it’s up to us and our leaders to create and maintain an environment where that’s the case. To this end, we’ve partnered with EthicsPoint so current and former employees can anonymously report concerns, allowing us to take immediate action. Given the nature of your experiences, I urge you to submit details to us through their site (https://bit.ly/1NPNZHS) as soon as possible so we can get to work ensuring that any current or future employees don’t encounter the same issues. If you’d prefer, feel free to reach out to me directly by phone (905-717-8264) or by email (rroos@venterraliving.com). Thank you again for speaking up and in advance for the additional dialogue.

Pros

CEO,John Fersi , Chairman,Andrew Stewart and COO, Richard Roos really care about the company.

Cons

I have been with Venterra for 5 years as a property Manager. Company has changed significantly. Venterra seems to be losing a lot of long term employees.

Thank you for sharing the feedback. We’re glad that you’re comfortable when it comes to the leadership team, your outlook for the company, and with recommending others to join Venterra based on your five years with us, but I’m disappointed to hear that you feel like there have been specific recent changes that have resulted unhappy employees. While change is inevitable, we believe open lines of communication with our onsite teams are necessary to ensure the changes we make are for the best, so we utilize a number of platforms (i.e. employee surveys, EthicsPoint, Better Way, Yammer groups) to consistently gather feedback and will always take it into account when it comes to operational adjustments. That said, we also know that not every voice is heard on every topic, and we can sometimes miss out on important employee perspectives, as a result. With this in mind, I’d like to encourage you to share your thoughts on this in more detail with us on one of these platforms or by reaching out to myself or another member of the senior operations team directly for a quick call or email at your convenience. Thank you again for providing the review here!

Pros

The work life balance was great.

Cons

Your experience working for Venterra can definitely vary based upon who your manager and assistant manager are. So, while this doesn't apply to every Venterra property it does apply to my experience. I felt harassed on a daily basis by my APM. It was a horrible environment. It was so bad that everybody at the entire property avoided her yet nothing was ever done. In fact I was punished for standing up for myself and not allowing this workplace bully who repeatedly spewed microagressions towards anyone whom was different from her make my life miserable. Ultimately moving on from this job turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. This company hires people with no experience and promotes them because of who they know and who they like. However, they have plenty of people with experience and degrees who could proficiently perform the job. I applied for a job in a different role while in my present role and was jokingly told by my manager that the regional didn't want a "young cute girl working around the contractors," as they may not take me seriously. Just too many issues. This is an old boys club and if you are okay with that than this is the place for you. If you are looking for a real career with upward mobility and fair compensation RUN! A lot of these reviews aren't even from current employees. They ask you to complete the Glassdoor survey as a part of the interview process. The only positive thing I can say is that the work life balance was decent and the corporate office definitely made an effort to create a fun environment.

Although we appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, I’m sorry to hear about your negative experiences on the team during your time at Venterra. We’re not accustomed to seeing reviews like this, so I would like you to reach out to me directly by phone or email when you have an opportunity to discuss the situation in more detail. Our goal is to create an amazing employee experience across the board, and that clearly wasn’t the case for you. Some further discussion can help ensure we’re taking the necessary steps to keep current or future employees from feeling the same way you have. Thank you again for the review and in advance for a few more moments of your time.
