I went for a 4-day orientation, they paid for the rental car however the very first day out there they had me take the car back so I was stuck there for 4 days without any transportation. I was to be paid $100 a day for the orientation. My first check was suppose to have $200 for the initial payment for the sign on bonus. My first day of actual work they sent me to retrieve an abandoned truck, I was told that I would be paid for 4 hours going to pick up the truck at $20 per hour and 53 cents a mile to bring it back which was approximately 135 miles. My second day they couldn't find me a load so I quit. During orientation they said that they hire groups of drivers weekly, however they have more drivers than loads so if you're paid by the mile you don't make any money cuz you're just sitting. Holiday pay, if you're paid by the mile you only get $90 a day for the holiday pay but if you're paid by the hour you get a full 8 hours. The day that my money was supposed to be direct deposited into my account there was nothing, so I called the payroll department and was informed that there were no loads delivered so there was to be no pay for anything, they failed or refused to report the recovery of the abandoned truck which would have been my load, so in other words I was shorted out of almost $900 by this great big conglomerate of a company. They expect you to sit around not making any money and wait for them to find you a load which is ridiculous. My advice for anyone looking for a driving job is to avoid Venture Logistics and look elsewhere. There should be a zero star rating this company does not deserve anything better than that.
