Pros

- Alphabet back up, no funding pressure - Have some smart people and engineer - Impactful domain

Cons

Unless you are super super passionate about healthcare industry, not worth joining. - Overall the company does not know what they are. Startup? One of the department of Google? Without a clear understanding what it is, you will see confusion everyday: when they try to attract talent, they will pitch you from google/alphabet back up (culture, funding etc). When they try to burn you out and cut benefit, they will say we are NOT google so don't expect same culture and benefit as google. Leadership can not make a mind at all what is Verily in terms of company culture. - Pay is not up to market if you are senior people from external hiring, and refresh not guaranteed. - Due to unclear self recognition, day to day work for engineer is challenge: move fast as startup? move slow as google? Leadership has no clue or redirection, so cause tons of confusion to engineers.

Pros

We have a great mission to impact healthcare at a grand scale which quite frankly, only a company like Verily can even attempt.

Cons

But people who have been at Verily for a few years are starting to feel like the mission is still so far into the future and may not be attainable. Things have gone from the mission inspiring employees to the company looking lost and getting crushed under the weight of the mission. For applicants, ask these questions in your interview or other people you know at the company, 1) How are your products differentiated? 2) How has your valuation grown in the last 3 years? 3) How has your client base grown in the last 3 years? 4) How satisfied are your clients? How many come back to renew their contracts? 5) How much is your employee churn? What is causing them? Make sure you are satisfied with the answers before you accept an offer.

Pros

It is wonderful working for an innovative company whose mission it is to improve health. Innovative, forward-thinking, encourages thinking outside the box. Company's leadership understands the importance of walking off the beaten path and innovating to solve new problems. Also great are the perks and the food!

Cons

Ideas and technology move so fast that sometimes you feel you find yourself in friendly competition with your peers.
