Good place to start

Pros

Training. And good place to start as a court reporter not knowing anything about the industry.

Cons

Not enough pay when you are finally experienced. Don't quit your day job. See it as a side hustle with good experience and education.

A Revolving Door of Preferential Treatment

Pros

Pay is better than most and benefits are good. Most coworkers at your level will be great to be around, helpful, and quite welcoming.

Cons

You'll quickly pick up on who advances and why. Why promote on merit and seniority when preferential treatment is given to friends. A company that bleeds talent might want to take a better look at their upper management.
