Pros

Awesome group of coworkers, interesting projects, everyone is telecommute and the hours flexible. Top of market salary. Lots of hardware to play with. Mutual trust and respect all over the place. Been here three years now and still liking it a lot.

Cons

It's a huge company, around 200k worldwide, so there's big-corp idiocy in places like IT and HR. If you get the wrong group, it's a bad place to work. And of course, epic politics; there's real money in play.

I love working here, this is a company that is big on work/life balance. Great benefits all around.

Pros

Good health benefits and tuition reimbursement, but not much else.

Cons

Very big disconnect from what you are promised in new hire training to the REAL deal. Verizon Wireless does not care about its employees at all. Very unrealistic sales quotas and their "support" in achieving those goals borders on lying to customers... actually, sometimes it is a bold faced lie. Cannot realistically take the time off promised to you because it is usually denied unless you know that you need it 3-4 weeks ahead of time. Who knows that they are going to need a personal day a month a head of time??? DENIED! They are constantly changing the rules so that they make more money and YOU make less commission on each sale. They also track your sales hourly and you are questioned (sometimes berated) as to why you didn't sell enough with each phone. This company has no values... which is why they post profits in the billions each year. The pressure they place on you makes you angry at customers who don't buy enough from you because your job is on the line every day. If you don't sell enough of something in the 8 categories you need to hit each month, you are reprimanded and placed on written warning... and reminded about how many people were fired before you for not making quota... INCIDENTALLY, THE QUOTA YOU GET PAID FOR IS NOT THE SAME QUOTA YOU HAVE TO MAKE EACH MONTH TO KEEP YOUR JOB. You are expected to get $100 out of each person you deal with, even the ones who come in to complain that their bill is too high. Then you are told to switch them to a plan that is "cheaper" when in reality it isn't, its just all in how you presented it. They mostly hire young people without much job experience because they won't know any better. Oh, and by the way, you can have EXCELLENT customer service skills and be a stellar employee and still be let go because its all about the numbers. Customer service does not seem to be a concern of theirs at all.
