Pros

50% off overpriced cell service

Cons

Bad leadership from corporate-level down, employees are disposable, leadership has no integrity, terrible benefits, bad culture, restrictive attendance policies for even mid-level jobs, no accountability for anyone in leadership positions and above, racist leadership, terrible pay well below market value, HR ignores valid complaints. Employees come last at Verizon. This was made clear when they announced a “voluntary termination”, or preemptive lay-off of 44,000 employees. Now people who have signed up to get a severance are being put on final warnings for things they aren’t doing in an effort to fire them before they can get their severance which has a due date 2 months out. Over the past 9 years of working there Verizon has slowly taken away more benefits from their employees to “save money” and “save the company”. You don’t take from your employees to make the company better. Learn from the Costco’s and Google’s of the world. Verizon is the worst place I have ever worked and I’m so glad I stopped drinking the kool-aid after 9 years. I now work at a place that offers twice my pay for the same job, I work remote rather than being treated like a child with an attendance policy that is worse than an elementary school, and I most important, now that I have quit Verizon I no longer dread coming into work everyday not suffer from panic and anxiety attacks just for going to work. Verizon is the worst company, and only cares about their shareholders. Employees are a number and are completely disposable. Run far away!!

Pros

Good work life balance and that's about it

Cons

Verizon used to be one of the most decent companies to work for. They are not any more... Top execs just care about their fat wallets. 80% of IT is being outsourced to Infosys . They are outsourcing individual contributors and some mid management while upper management take it easy watching everything getting devastated in front of their eyes. New CEO has no vision and doesn't see any thing on the table besides 5G. Ship has started to sink big time...

Pros

Pay is great and one of the few union jobs. Benefits and vacation are decent.

Cons

Tools given to employees are consistently faulty and cheaply produced. Employees are not given adequate training to ensure a proper job. The environment between employers and employees is openly hostile and extremely adversarial. The company clearly wishes to get rid of well paid senior employees at any cost. Once an employee is at top pay and settled in they are under a constant microscope and not for quality assurance. Employees are in constant fear of being suspended or losing their jobs. Despite union protection upper management has it to a science when they need to lighten payroll. Scheduling is all over the place for the first several years. If you are a single parent or wish for a work life balance it can be difficult. Micromanagement is extreme here and over encumbering to well intentioned employees. Management is constantly in flux and needs of the business are all over the place. Every employee is expected to be a master of every possible field within Verizon but not given the tools to do so. Well performing employees are scolded as much as low performing ones. The attitude of a better product is in many cases not deserved and the focus of the company is never on strengthening the areas that should be focused. Verizon clearly wishes to shrink the union backed Fios brand in preparation for the non union and hence lower salaries wireless world.
