Pros

Pay is reasonably competitive, you get to work with some really sharp people in the Scala community. Low standards for performance make work-life balance easy, if skating along with your head down is your thing.

Cons

Laughably abysmal project velocity, internal politics, and a series of top down re-organizations have resulted in a protracted land grab. Management on the east coast just doesn't understand bay area hiring and employment culture. God help you if you need something from a Verizon team that's not also in San Jose. Your day-to-day experience will be highly dependent on team, some seem terrible, some seem average.

Pros

Verizon is a leader in New communication technology. They have great benefits and have great opportunities for advancement. It is never dull at Verizon Wireless.

Cons

Depending on what market your are in usually determines your advancement opportunity. Unless you are willing to uproot and move about every 2 to 3 years you could get held back due to a lack of tenure or the good ole boy culture which seems to develop in the smaller markets.

Pros

Excellent salary and benefits, tuition assistance, mobility options within the core company and the wireless sector. Verizon offers an unparalleled suite of products and services. Industry leader. #15 on the Fortune 500 list of companies for 2015.

Cons

Holidays, weekends, nights, on-call duties. 10 hour/day requirement (minimum). Field/technician, managers positions are more demanding than other positions within the company. Demanding, oppressive work environment (wireline). Difficult to manage work/life balance. impossible to plan activities outside of work (family, charity, educational, pleasure) due to constantly changing and increasingly demanding work responsibilities/expectations.
