Pros

- Great benefits - Competitive Compensation (Base pay increases slowly, however)

Cons

- Horrible culture (frequent mass layoffs, not flexible work hours) - Sales Culture stuck in 1980, putting very little focus on social media - Management treats employees like peons, not people.

Pros

Competitive pay. Competitive benefits.

Cons

Essentially a foreign run company. This info is not for Verizon Wireless. Even though Verizon is supposedly one company, it is split right down the middle.. with all kinds of different policies / benefits differences between the two halves. With the ever-increasing culture of sending as many jobs offshore as possible, its getting harder and harder to stay employed. Verizon absolutely does not care about people. They are very top-heavy with management, but it's the workers that get laid off twice a year. Verizon has at least two layoffs a year. One is always the last payday before Thanksgiving. You can mark it on your calendar if you work there.. If you manage to survive the layoff, you can breath a little for the next 6 months.. but you can never feel like you are valued. Now Verizon has sold its IT department to Infosys. Most everyone that worked in IT, will either become unemployed, or an Infosys contractor. ugh... Morale is the worst ever. The joke in the office is that we all got the 'shank' (The face of the decision to sell IT to Infosys is a guy named Shankar). Even if you take the contract position at Infosys, you will likely be looking for a job in another year. Infosys has stated point-blank, that they intend on offshoring as many jobs as possible. Infosys is an Indian company with a large Indian workforce. The work environment is getting ridiculous. People are expected to work in an environment where there are rows and rows of tables. There are so many distractions. Nobody can concentrate. Meetings are held at big tables sitting in the aisle of the rooms. ugh.. It's the most ridiculous thing. I have been in telecom for many years, Verizon has been the worst employment experience of any of my prior companies.

Pros

401K match, good medical and dental coverage.

Cons

Benefits are starting to be taken away. Such as life insurance was 2x pay for people before 2011, now reduced to 1x beginning this year. Time off grids adjusted in 2012 and are not as good. Uncertain work environment with RIFs happening like clockwork each year. Zero based budgeting makes you feel squeezed and everything is about making money for shareholders. It used to feel employee centric, now shareholder centric.
