Pros

1) Projects were interesting as long as they lasted. 2) Very good engineering managers. 3) Very capable colleagues. 3) Somewhat relaxed work environment.

Cons

1) Just a phone company. And is very reluctant to branch out. No software development culture. Stay away if you want to build systems. 2) Branching out efforts are short-lived. That is why they are not developing any form of development experience or culture. Stay away if you want a stable software development job.

Pros

Much of the work is interesting. I enjoy working with most of the people. Base pay is pretty good and I get a generous bonus every year.

Cons

A little of the work is painfully dull. Is there discrimination? The company is about 80% Indian and there seems to be a different criteria for judging Indians than other employees. Some of the employees are incredibly dumb and somehow keep their jobs. We had a layoff a few years ago. My group is 80% Indian but the layoffs were 90% non-Indian. (The only Indian that got it was Muslim, not Hindu.) The company is in the process of moving to an open floor plan office, where nobody has an assigned desk. Everybody has to pack their stuff up every night and unpack in the morning. (Which is why I am on Glassdoor, looking at companies.)

Pros

Great pay/ vacation hours/ benefits. A lot of fun scheduled events most of the time. Also has a lot of great choices for hours if you have tenure at the center.

Cons

Customers calling in can be extremely angry, irate and rude. Usually due to a confusing bill, a policy they don't understand, or from a screw up at a store or most always an authorized retail location. Management tries to teach you how to handle them by 'discovering' what the overlaying issue is, but a lot of times it just further frustrates the customer. I knew people on my team that had to get doctors notes for LOAs (Leave of absence) due to the stress that comes with being berated all the time. You will also run into a lot of weirdos calling in.
