Pros

The ex-CEO had a compelling, market relevant, and truly transformational vision for Vertex Enterprise. Vertex is a leading indirect tax provider which affords ample opportunities for those possessing a transaction tax background. With the right sponsor you have access to take on new challenges and move both laterally and vertically within the company. Formal education, experience, and/or certification is not pre-requisite to a thriving career and many existing employees successfully transfer into different roles than they otherwise would have been considered for if they were external candidates.

Cons

As other contributors indicated, Vertex Enterprise continues to be driven by a handful of senior transaction tax developers with no experience in income tax and so the future of VE is uncertain at best.
