Good collaboration hampered by unclear management direction

Pros

Good collaboration with co-workers locally and overseas, good office location, good welfare benefits (medical/dental)

Cons

Inconsistent direction from middle management: Middle management frequently changes priorities and strategic direction, creating uncertainty and making it difficult for the team to maintain focus and execute effectively. Lack of clear career development and progression: There is insufficient clarity regarding career progression, performance expectations, and long-term development opportunities, leaving employees without a well-defined growth path. Unfulfilled commitments and increasing expectations: Employees are encouraged to take on additional responsibilities and demonstrate leadership capabilities, often based on assurances of future recognition or advancement that are not consistently realized. Authoritative leadership style with limited collaboration: Leadership tends to adopt a top-down management approach, emphasizing compliance with directives while providing limited opportunities for constructive feedback, discussion, or consideration of team input.

Pros

Wide insurance coverage. “work-life balance” only applies to some

Cons

Highly sales-oriented, with limited investment in employee development and long-term career growth. Opportunities for career progression are unclear, and the performance review process lacks transparency. Bonus decisions appear to depend heavily on individual managers’ assessments rather than clearly defined and consistently applied criteria. The work environment can also feel unsupportive at times. Rather than fostering collaboration, there were instances where colleagues undermined one another in front of customers, making it difficult to work effectively as a team. While the company invests in leadership training, I did not observe significant improvements in leadership effectiveness or management practices following these programmes. Much of the administrative support is handled offshore. In my experience, this often resulted in inaccurate information and slower response times, which affected day-to-day operations.
