Pros

Friendly staff, conference party in October, health insurance coverage (medical, dental, vision)

Cons

No raises, staff can be really cliquey, too much gossip, turnover of staff, overworked, barely get bonuses, no room for growth, processes were determined with no higher staff observing what was actually being done. Business is going downhill with decreasing amount of employees left to pick up the slack.

Thank you for your post. You bring up some very valid points about the stress of the job which is a national crisis. The Columbus Dispatch did a four part series about how underfunded our system is which limits the amount that employers can pay direct support professionals, which is causing a shortage of staff. All of these issues put stress on our employees and we are urging lawmakers to invest in our system that serves our most vulnerable citizens.

Pros

Conference is nice, but that money needs to be used on raises for the staff!

Cons

I have deemed this job impossible

I understand your frustration about the pay for the job that is required. There was a four part series in the Columbus Dispatch last weekend detailing how underfunded our services are for Ohio's most vulnerable individuals, which translates into lower wages for our great employees. As Providers we are all paid the exact same rates for services and in turn we all compensate in very similar ways. I share your frustration as does every Provider in the state. Our trade association, the County Boards of DD, and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities are all trying to rectify this horrible situation. We are so lucky to have such caring and compassionate caregivers who do so much for the many people we serve!

Pros

There are so many pros to this company, I’m not sure where to begin. I guess what everyone looks for, fair compensation, great benefits and flexible schedule. In addition this company is so rewarding to work for. I am told almost daily how valued I am as an employee, and I work with a fantastic group of people. As a nurse this type of atmosphere can be challenging to find. When I accepted the position with ViaQuest over 3 years ago it was a step out of my comfort zone and one I have never regretted. I can honestly say that I have never come into contact with anyone at ViaQuest that doesn’t have the the needs of the people we serve as their top Priority. I have enjoyed getting to know and working with our vast DD population and it has brought so much meaning to my life. I believe that this company, what they stand for and what they do is truly my calling in life. Thank you ViaQuest for offering me the career of a lifetime!

Cons

I would love to see ViaQuest expand to be more active in the lives of individuals outside of our service area!
