Many of the students are capable individuals.

Cons

The administrative environment is toxic and not healthy for an educated female.

Pros

Excellent health insurance benefits and a decent number of holidays. These are state benefits though, and this is the only pro for working at VT.

Cons

They only seem to care about faculty and their compensation, and staff are second class citizens. They absolutely will not pay a fair market value. The HR department is there to only protect the university, and not the employee, so don't even think about raising a complaint about something. Management is seemingly selected by the "screw up to move up" method, and is a total good old boys club, so good luck succeeding if you don't participate in that. The employee rating system is a joke as well, but is changing for 2023. From the sounds of it, it will not be a good change either.
