Pros

Virginia tech is a good place to do research work. It is located in small town of Blacksburg away from traffic hassles. The library facilities are very good. There is good collaborative research opportunities.

Cons

Virginia tech is away from major cities and the nearest airport is 50 miles away. This is usually not a problem since average person does not travel more than once or twice.

Pros

Virginia Tech is located in a wonderful area. Co-workers are great to work with and management is fine. I enjoy the laid back, non-stress atmosphere. It is much different than a corporate position where a bottom line is being chased each month. There is more time to experiment and try new things.

Cons

There is not a lot of growth potential. Raises and bonuses are not part of the job. It is a secure job but not one that will provide career growth.
