      Work at Visa if money and stability are the most important factors for you.

      Pros

      Great compensation and benefits package. My salary is pretty high compared to other companies and the benefits are great. There are also small perks like great cafeterias and free parking. Some people, not many, manage a good work/life balance.

      Cons

      Too matrixed and political. There are so many hurdles to get something done that it's frustrating. Also, I don't see a lot of internal promotions. There is a total lack of company culture and team development. It's a high-stress environment and the money is not worth it for me.

      Visa Takes Life - A Company That Has Lost Its Way

      Pros

      Ability to work for a globally-recognized brand in the San Francisco Bay Area.

      Cons

      Post-IPO environment is a far cry from the old way of doing things. This used to be a company that prided itself on the way it took care of employees, but now it's all about making quarterly numbers while senior management foolishly pisses money away on their own personal ventures and hobbies. All of this, despite a record number of transactions forecast for this year.

      Pros

      Health benefits. 2-to-1 401k match.

      Cons

      Aggressive trimming of current benefits; benefit changes overtly targeted at 40+ year old employees with 10 yrs of tenure to force them out; Visa spent $56 million on a private jet for senior management team - ridiculous when they spout the corporate line of "we have a bottom line and are responsible to shareholders to cut costs". CEO lives at Four Seasons hotel, $10 million bonus, upper management rolling in stock options while our benefits continue to shrink.
