Teetering and controlled by the investors

Pros

Small company ambiance in a rural setting. Client loyalty to the company and the original software product is high.

Cons

Smaller company trying to move from a legacy software platform to a modern one, and not very successfully. Challenging work conditions due to Investor oversight and unwillingness to take a long play on the company, instead focusing on short term financial goals and cost cutting.

Pros

There used to be pros to working at Vision. The people there worked in a friendly supportive culture. There are still pros working AT vision, but there are boatloads fewer than there were yesterday.

Cons

The company doesn't have the strength to develop new and interesting software in a disciplined way. They remain mired in desktop based WPF with an anarchic data model. The company is financially weak (layoffs yesterday: 20% of the company, and around 40% of the engineering staff at last count).
