Not compensated well

Pros

Getting to know clients and families was priceless. Relationships were built and it was nice to know I was making a difference in the lives of our elders.

Cons

The pay was terrible. There were no bonuses or benefits. After years of service I didn't have any steady work. I was being assigned clients that were far away and there were times I barely made my gas money back. I worked overnight shifts from time to time and was not compensated well for that time. The excuse for this is that "we don't get paid to sleep" This is so wrong because during overnight shifts, one doesn't sleep for fear of the client's well-being.
