Pros

In the staffing segment Volt Technical Resources, now Volt Work Force Solutions Good opportunity to develop communication skills and understand the market place for certain engineering talents and abilities. Provides an insight into large coporations hiring practices or the lack there of. You can earn a decent entry level paycheck with a bachelors degree in social science or even liberal arts.

Cons

In many ways, it is still a sales job. It doesn't matter how well you understand different skill sets as much as selling candidates and volume.

Great For College Students

Pros

As a campus rep for Apple, this is great for a college student. You dictate your own hours, which is helpful when balancing an academic life. This is definitely a job that requires independence, since you need to figure out what works best for your campus. There are monthly projects, but some aren't realistic for some campuses. A definite perk is getting to keep the new mac books they initially loan, only if you complete the 1 year term. And there's always tons of free swag coming in through the mail. You'll never be in a need for marketing material, as they always keep you stocked.

Cons

Automated feedback emails can cause confusion at what your progress status. The time card system needs to be streamlined, you end up putting in the same information/time for at least 3 different systems. The interface for volt's e-time cards is horrendous, as well as their pay roll management site. The activity tracker is tedious to fill out, as well. Orientation is slightly overkill. It's time consuming and repetitive. And sometimes there isn't enough to do on campus, but projects do help out sometimes. Beware of loaner kits, they may arrive too late for the event that you wanted the kit for.

Pros

For a staffing agency, they have very good benefits. They treat their employees nicely because they wish to keep them working with Volt for a long time.

Cons

As a temp, you can't go very far in the company of work. However! You can get hired directly by the company you are assigned to (Microsoft in my case). However! That hiring will probably cost the company much money which may be a deterrant to hiring directly. (I don't know that for a fact, but I feel pretty sure of it)
