The regional opportunities available to employees help to provide career development ops. People there are generally friendly and working environment is pleasant.

Cons

A place that values experience, and hence younger generation have less recognition and chance for promotions and salary increments. Not market competitive.

The pay is fair for the industry. Quality and safety are taken very seriously. You get to interact with multiple cultures.

Cons

Not focused on American facilities. Will shift production to enhance Swedish facilities to the detrimint of the overall company. No advancement unless you work overseas.

Pros

The Volvo Way is a proud concept which, when executed properly, would make Volvo a top company to work for. The benefits package is excellent, though impacted by recent economics. Expatriate opportunities exist for those in lower management and below. The complexity and visibility of the products makes the work very interesting.

Cons

Volvo top management has a very narrow world view focused on Sweden. Ideas inconsistent with this world view are actively discouraged even when consistent with regional market requirements. As a result, many strategic opportunities are missed and employees with broader world views and creative approaches find the environment frustrating. Volvo has actively developed a bureaucracy which makes rapid action and decision making difficult.
