Pros

You would get discounts if you shopped there and there are many opportunities to speak with and bond with your coworkers

Cons

They don't really train you, they just throw you in the water and hope you know how to swim. My manager would always get mad at me if I took too long to do something (even though I was new).

I would not recommend anyone to go work for Vons. Safeway (Vons) are a corrupt and vicious large corporation, whose best interest is focused solely on profit. They are as comparable to Walmart. They pay their employees the most minimum possible. They do not respect school hours or sick days. They understaff their stores, and are the epitome of greed. The list goes on.

Pros

Union job, they can't fire you. Great benefits if you can weasel enough hours out of them.

Cons

They pay you as little as possible, keep your hours low so you loose medical benefits, which you still have to pay for. Management treat you like garbage. You have no choice in union membership(CA locations), and have to pay for that as well. Our union rep was worthless.
