hours cut drastically. people call out all the time because the work can be stressful on your body and mind. management can be strict and sometimes rude. pay could be higher considering the amount of work courtesy clerks do. taking out trash, cleaning the bathrooms (a lot of homeless people locate near that area so bathrooms can be dirty a lot, people leave stuff in there unfortunately), we have to manually push the carts back inside (that is the only grocery store i know that doesn’t have a machine that helps you bring the carts back to the front of the store) so it can be exhausting at times especially when it rains or is really hot outside. only 10 minute breaks that don’t even really feel like a break considering how busy it usually is. you can get fired pretty easily actually. and suspended as well and they won’t tell you for how long sometimes. customers are difficult to deal with because a lot of them don’t take the time to understand the Vons app they download so you’re constantly having to explain to people how to fix their problems and constantly send the customers to the customer service desk. the system is faulty and a lot of the time the digital coupons don’t go through and can be very frustrating when you have to start the transactions over and over again and people get angry very quickly. stressful environment with not enough support from management (they are very stressed as well). it really feels like every man for himself at most times, people don’t want to help that much there. holidays we stay open so they have people working there year round, even christmas. i’ve seen drunk people pass out in the middle of the store and have to wait for firemen to show up. a lot of people lie about having trained dogs so sometimes you have to pick up dog poop in the store. there will also be dog poop outside when you do carts (it gets on the carts a lot). there’s a lot and i mean a lot of thefts who steal from that store so we’re constantly losing money thus hours.
