Pros

If you're lazy and want a job where they can't/won't easily fire you, Vons is the place. If you're social and want to make a lot of connections, Vons has a high turnover, so you'll meet a lot of new people and won't be expected to do your job. Benefits used to be good, but with the new healthcare laws they are subpar to other jobs.

Cons

There's no point to work harder, promotions come from years with company and personal relationships with management. You only get up to 40 hours a week when things are very busy. Typically get under 20 hours a week. Your schedule is written and mostly random each week; you must request days off to assure you get the free time, and it's just a suggestion to management. Lazy workers face no punishment and all positions get paid within the same wage bracket, so you watch lazy people stand around and talk while you're forced to do their job as well as your own. Very little regard to travel distance and sleep time of their employees. (i.e. 30-minute commute and leave after dark, then come in early the next morning).
