      Good place for a first-time position, not so good for developing a fast-growing career

      Pros

      • Great place for a first job • Very flexible with school schedules for high school and college • Opportunities for development • Excellent place to further develop interpersonal communication skills

      Cons

      • Not easy place to advance up in career opportunities if hours cut to part-time • Compensation increases slow to come since based on hours worked, not on performance - this makes it difficult when hours (again) are cut down to part-time levels • Union shop which forces you to join and pay initiation dues (worker beware) out of your paycheck every week • Sometimes overworked due to lack of help and not enough people on hand to finish job.

      I love working at vons. I have been there for over a year. I was a bagger but got promoted to deli clerk and I love it.

      Pros

      Great benefits paid weekly people who work there make the work fun teaches you skills that you can use later on in the workplace makes you feel very accomplished when you know you did a good job!

      Cons

      Low pay sick calls effect the whole crew the 3 minuets or less rule for making sandwiches is awful. customers will take forever to choose what they'd like on their sand which so they get it for free. all the ovens and fryers break very often because they're old normally there is not enough staff - especially during dinner rush.
