No for you if you want a career

Pros

Good people at the ground level. Nice/although always changing work environment (building). Ok benefits.

Cons

This is not a company you want to join if you want a career. If you are looking for something short term to get a couple years of experience, then it might be ok. There is no consistency or planning. Everything is done on a whim or on the emotions of an unstable leadership. The “leadership” does not communicate very well, if at all, and when they do, they talk out of both sides of their mouth. There is no transparency and most of the time one area of the company has no idea what the other is doing. There is no sense of loyalty and you will be constantly told that everyone is replaceable. They will sell you a bill of goods on an awesome culture, but when they are told that culture and morale has tanked they act like they don’t understand why or how. They treat everyone like they should be happy they just have a job. People below the manager level seem to know what is going on (or as much as leadership will allow them to know), but they are usually so overworked that they don’t have time to mentor or manage the people under them. They have had RIFs for the last 4 years right before the holidays, and then they do not discuss it with the remaining employees. They also hire and promote people during these RIFs. This place is horribly dysfunctional and it is from the top down. No organization, no one is held accountable, and people who have absolutely no experience doing things get put into positions they have no business being in. You get promoted based on popularity, your best friend being your manager, or being a jerk to the people who work under you, it is not based on your work ethic or work produced.

WD Partners Response

Thank you for your feedback! We wish you the best in your future employment. Although this feedback was posted in 2017, we’d like to highlight some of the things that we’re proud of at WD. In 2021, our overall turnover was 17% and our 6-year average turnover is 26%. If you compare that to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s national averages, we’re doing much, MUCH better than the rest of the country – even in our own industry and region – where the annual separation/turnovers are in the 40-60% ranges for that same 6 years. (https://www.bls.gov/news.release/jolts.t16.htm#jolts_table16.f.10) We’re really proud that our clients are keeping us busy and our associates are choosing to stay! In the WD Associate Satisfaction Survey from April 2021, here is how our Associates rated their satisfaction with working at WD… - 8.3 out of 10: Overall Satisfaction Score - 8.9 out of 10: “I would like to be working at WD Partners a year from now” - 9.1 out of 10: “Inappropriate or derogatory comments and behaviors are not tolerated on my team.” - 9.3 out of 10: “My manager treats everyone fairly with respect, regardless of their differences or background.” - 8.2 out of 10: "I’m able to manage my work in a way that allows me to maintain a healthy balance between work and home.” We examine all reviews from Glassdoor to identify any trends or areas of concern, but we also encourage all Associates to reach out to their manager, Executive Leadership Team Member, and/or Talent Care at any time. We do our best to offer potential solutions and share what is being done to address those concerns, though we understand that available outcomes may not always resolve all frustrations.

Missed Opportunities

Pros

Good benefits and amazing PTO. Great team of friendly people to work with. The work environment is pretty cool and modern, which has the potential to be inspiring.

Cons

Management hire people and give them false impressions of their role and the potential within the company. Starting out there is minimal one on one training. Instead you are usually just thrown to the wolves and expected to learn everything you need to know by reviewing PDFs. Employees are expected to work longer hours as the norm and never given the opportunity to work shorter weeks when work is light. It's easy to get lost once you fulfill their needs. This company doesn't care about your abilities or your career path, and trying to reach out about new opportunities within the company just gets you into trouble. There are only a handful of people who get to do satisfying work. Most everyone else is banished to do role out work ad nauseum. The channels for communication are beyond broken, especially with the ever changing structure and titles within the company.

Pros

Some good projects amongst all the roll-out. Good resume builder. Golden handcuffs for a select few.

Cons

Disconnected management. Implementation of a Project Management by non- architectural or engineering professionals. Client's question value of their PM's. Zero room for advancement. Staff running away.
