Pros

None that I can think of at the time that I left. There used to be many but it's useless to mention them now.

Cons

Marketing specialists and tech writers beware. The WD Marketing Communications department was a great place to work for quite a while. Alas, nothing lasts forever. The culture put in place by the present CEO, the first in WD history with no engineering background whatsoever, favored the hire of unqualified, self-aggrandizing, mendacious, and narcissistic top level managers. These individuals, who failed upwards spectacularly due to their advanced finger-pointing and responsibility-shucking skills, have some extremely broad definitions of job titles and their associated responsibilities. Unless you have a amazing talent for obsequiousness, can thrive in a hostile environment with high turnover, and can tolerate disrespect and laughingly unreasonable expectations, think long and hard about considering a job in the WD Marcomm department. If you have little to no experience and need to pay your dues and use this place as a stepping stone, I suppose it may work for you.

Pros

The very best people, especially their technical prowess. Good pay, reasonable benefits. A great company with world-class Operations, Manufacturing, and product Quality values.

Cons

Too many acquisitions that did not pan out as planned, and too much ongoing consolidation activity impacting the business and morale. With little true new product innovation, especially with majority of customers going all-flash storage, they missed this opportunity by several years and it feels like a slow death now - too little, too late.
