While WD acquired HGST, the top management is mostly HGST, while middle is WD. This leads to a schizophrenic culture across the company. Sandisk appears to be an entity onto themselves. After merger, technical path was effectively demoted one step, or equivalently, management path was promoted one level. Poor/non-existent technical managers.
