Pros

Senior leadership at WP Engine is one of the company’s strongest assets. They’re approachable, thoughtful and genuinely care about building a strong culture and sustainable business. There’s a clear sense that people matter here, and that comes from the top down. The executive team is also quite open to feedback and adjusts direction when needed, which is not always common at this scale.

Cons

Like many growing companies, we sometimes struggled with clarity in direction across teams. Priorities could shift quickly, and not everyone would always have the full context at the right time. It wasn’t a blocker for getting things done, but it occasionally made strategic alignment harder than it needed to be. That said, leadership has been working on improving cross-org communication, and it’s heading in the right direction.

Great people, great product

Pros

I love the people and our CEO, Heather. How there is often focus put on the values of DEI, minority issues, and caring about each other and our work life balance. I get to write and maintain software that impacts a lot of the internet. The people I work with feel like actual friends and not just work colleagues.

Cons

We're still tied to a large legacy monolith with a weekly deploy cadence that makes rapid change difficult sometimes, but we're moving in the right direction away from that.

Pros

Emphasis is put on having our company values drive big and small decisions. Company values are reinforced through recognition. We are encouraged to have a good work life balance and focus on mental well-being. Coworkers are friendly and fun to work with. The company really focuses on and prioritizes, diversity, lgbtq+ rights, supporting women, and charitable contributions.

Cons

There's a lot of exciting work on building new services in a modern way, but there's a decent amount of tech debt that can slow down rolling out new software and features.
