Pros

Flexible scheduling (at the branch I was at) Friendly coworkers

Cons

Unattainable sales goals, unrealistic expectations. Micromanagement pushed by upper management as a result of new sales incentive. Extremely low morale but no one is willing to stand up and say something for fear of losing their job.

Pros

In general, the people in the branches are good people. The community bank feel allows you to connect with customers and build relationships easily.

Cons

Minimal growth unless you have friends to get you there. PBs are given low salaries with the promise of earning bonuses through the incentive plan. However, the incentive plan has unattainable standards and expectations.

Pros

Average Personal Banker experience working in an branch office setting. I've learned a few things about banking regulations that I did not know previously.

Cons

The company has sales goal requirements for its Personal Bankers that applies to all of its different branches no matter the market that the branch is in. That means PB's in slower branches have the same requirements as someone in a much busier branch. Management does not see this as a problem for some odd reason. Instead of recognizing this is an issue they would rather make unreasonable requests of their employees to meet unattainable goals. When they don't meet these goals they ask silly questions like "what do you think you could do better" as if you haven't been speaking to customers, calling customers, sending emails and mailing letters. They tell the employees to sell through service which sounds reasonable until you don't make sure sales goal; at the point you just aren't doing your job. This is a sentiment shared by many PB's in this organization. The company claims its clear and candid but upper management is a bunch of double talkers. They tell employees not to worry about sales and to focus on good service but when you do that and it doesn't result in enough sales for the bank they take issue.
