Pros

Lots of processes and checks & balance. The company buys lots of smaller firms to keep growing which means lots of new people and business lines.

Cons

Lots of entrenched management. The company advertised unlimited PTO that is actually capped at 4-5 weeks based on positions, bonuses are less than $1,000 a year and pay raises are capped at 3%. WSP is not an innovation driven company and they do not have any project management tools which makes it impossible to control project delivery or costs. Most of the design work is outsourced to the India offices which makes for very low quality for clients.

Terrible PTO policy

Pros

I have a great team and have really impactful work. I also think work/life balance is decent - not supposed to work over 40 hours (it still happens sometime).

Cons

The company has a terrible PTO policy, depending on your rank. There are no sick days, so you need to use your vacation days for sick time (and there is not that much PTO). Even the "unlimited" vacation is not that generous. It is a very large company and a lot of the tech/systems can be annoying and take a long time to get through. It probably depends on group, but promotion system is pretty opaque.

Pros

Employees can work whatever schedule fits their lives. Employees can charge a lot more hours than they actually work.

Cons

The recruiter (Grace Kennedy) that called me about this position told me there were a lot of opportunities for advancement. She also said I would get a raise if I was hired on full time by the company once the contract ran out. Neither of those ever happened. I don't know the full dynamics about what recruiters get for filling positions but it seemed that she was okay with lying to me to get me to take this position because it benefited her somehow. There isn't enough work to be done to justify 40 hours most weeks. Most employees charge a lot more hours than they actually work and that is not only allowed, it seems to be encouraged by the shoddy management at this place.
