Pros

Decent health benefits. Hired as a remote worker. Flexible scheduling.

Cons

Slashed bonus program. Reduced profit sharing. Limited growth opportunities. 3% "yearly raise" reduced to 2%. No mid-year performance salary increases in three years.

thanks for your post. I dont know another bank that provides equity (stock options) to all employees..... and those are only valuable if we are successful at increasing the value of our company.

Rapidly declining morale

Pros

The company used to have good benefits and a friendly work environment.

Cons

The bonus structure and 401k match seem to be declining every year along with the morale of the workforce. The culture has gone from a stable regional bank to a constant whirlwind of trying to “pivot” to find a way to stay profitable and please shareholders. The acquisition of Luther Burbank Savings may have been the inflection point for this bank. Ever since acquiring a failing bank it has been one bad decision after another. The staff used to be treated great and is now more of a number than anything else. There a frequent restructurings of departments and teams which causes concern and almost all of my old colleagues felt uneasy and were starting to look for other opportunities. In my opinion, the uncertainty about the current economy is the only thing keeping the turnover from getting out of control.

I appreciate your post but respectfully disagree. we have to change or we will not be here to serve our customers. we certainly have not been perfect but love the changes we have made to become more relevant for our clients and expand career opportunities for our employees

Pros

This was the most wonderful place to work ever. We got kudos from upper mgt all the time. We had the best personal, but then it came crashing down. Upper mgt changed and put in demands that were unobtainable in a senior community, ie mortgages. What senior wants a mortgage?

Cons

Our Mgr became bitter and nasty shaming, employees in front of customers so then the customers apologized for her actions. I complained but no response. Good communication NOT..I had 16 yrs with wafd and retired early. Couldn't do it anymore.
