Pros

Great job security. However, this is because they run on a very thin staff.

Cons

Very low pay compared to industry averages. No onboarding training at all. The company is trying hard to upgrade technology but doing a very poor job of change management. I would recommend working here if you are interested in getting into banking but use it as a resume booster. There's not much room for advancement unless you live in Seattle.

I truly believe that working for Washington Federal is the wisest career choice I could have been blessed with. The benefits alone are amazing not to mention the pay is quite comfortable. I feel as if I have found the job I've been searching for my whole life. I know I will go above and beyond to be the customer service representative that Washington Federal needs and wants smiling back everyday at their customers. Without a doubt i know this is the job i was meant to do.

Cons

Washington Federal, has an outstanding reputation because of customer relations that it sustains. As many years as I have been in customer service I wonder if I will meet the expectation's not so much of the employer but the expectations of the clientele. The clientele of any industry determines a businesses success, so you can see where that first impression, upon the moment the door opens is of the utmost importance. With all the excellent benefits and excitement, also comes with the knowledge that it all depends o. That heartfelt opening smile.

The 11% to the 401K they put in is excellent. The people that work here are really nice and some are like family.

Cons

The 3% maximum raise that you will probably never see, does not keep up with what the economy has done. Senior management has seen 200 - 300% raises in the time I have been here. New employees are often making more than their supervisors because of the minimal pay raises and the current cost of wages. The bonus plan is a joke. There are no pay grades for any job. If you are new, I guarantee you make way more than the person with 10 years experience doing the same job. I could go on but I am sure you get the idea.
