Pros

Everyone is always so friendly and very helpful. Paid vacation comes after only 6 months. Easy to get promoted within. I love how driven everyone is and how Roy Whitehead, the CEO, is always improving the company.

Cons

Does not pay as well as some other big banks. There are limits to how high you can get promoted.

Pros

The one thing I will say about this company is that It is a good place to learn the basics and get an understanding of banking.

Cons

For the jobs ( I say jobs because you will have many) that I did I was very very under paid and pushed into doing jobs that I was not comfortable with but still had to do in order to keep my job. When I had a issue with a manager it was blown off and that manager and HR made me feel like it was my fault and I needed to have more of a back bone. The computer systems are very hard to work on. For the day and age we live in this company is still in the 1800's when it comes to our systems. They say our account are "live" that is BS there is nothing live about it. The pay is very bad. They will try and make you feel like getting the bonus and 401k will make up for the lack in pay, but what they won't tell you is in order to be fully vested in your 401k you have to work for the company for 6 years. The bonus is becoming harder and harder to earn, when the branches are very slow. They say we have local underwriting when it comes to approving the loans but yet it takes 2 weeks to get an answer just for a credit decision. We have lost many clients because of that. Which means no client ,no loans, no bonus. I could go on and on.

Pros

Washington Federal is a regional bank that is focused squarely on the communities it serves. WaFed is a company that is increasing in size which leads to significant job opportunities within the company. Low fee (or no fee) deposit account options and an incredible suite of personal banking products make it easy to recomend WaFed accounts. WaFed is also a one-stop-shop for small business customers that are looking for the personal attention a local bank can provide. Home loans are all underwritten locally so there is an incredible amount of flexability and communication. WaFed offers a VERY competitive retirement package and a good bonus structure. Most branches are open from 9-5 M-Th and closed on Saturday which offers a better work life balance than other banks I have worked at.

Cons

Changes to all computer systems are in process. This will create more opportunities for our clients and associates, but could be a stressful time as the system is integrated. Some branches have slower foot traffic.
