Pros
I've worked at Washington Federal since my former bank employer was acquired over 20 years ago. It's a place where one person really can make a difference and where you're expected to take initiative to make the company better. Pay may be on the more modest side, but the bank matches the first 4% of my 401(k) and then kicks in another 7%, so my retirement account looks great. They also are generous in covering a large chunk of my health insurance premiums for me and my children.
Cons
The organization is fairly unstructured in its approach compared to other banks. You have to be a self-starter and you have to love taking care of clients. The incentive plan is more team-based, so if you want a commissioned-sales environment, this isn't for you.
