Pros

Working for Walgreens is great when your a student because they are very flexible with scheduling. There is also the occasional 20% off everything except cigarettes and milk products. They do offer holiday pay too.

Cons

The pay is horrible, unless your a Assistant Manger or higher. For example, as a service clerk, I started with $7.45, six years ago, and I ended my career there at $8.50. So it took more then 6 years just to make a $1. Also, Walgreens rarely promotes within the company. The managers treat you as pawns and not people. For example, last year, Our new store manager changed the opening time of the store 8am to 7am without even asking us what we thought about that. All she told is was it was just a test and it would be temporary, but it wasn't. Last but not least, Walgreen is open 365 days a year, enough said.

Pros

lean, nationally standardized set of operating rules, policies and procedures that are easily followed from store to store even region to region

Cons

people bring personalities and when you bring a bunch of people together there may be personality conflicts. If you find yourself in a store that you are uncomfortable simply make an effort to get to know the other people in the other stores nearby and wait for an opening in your "dream store". If you are skillful and dependable, the company will sometimes even find another store for you.
