Pros

Payday. I say that because I can work my tail off and get great complements form management and peers but if you don't kiss up they pass you over for any advancement.

Cons

The Management lies to you and says everything is rosy (when it's not). CCR is an expensive mistake. They are isolating the long time customers. There is no real increase in sales at the stores that have CCR. How long will it take to get the investment back? Our sales are dropping like a rock. The stock is dropping also. My advice is to take a long look at the price of WAG stock before you buy. If you bought it 10 years ago you would of had 0 gain and lost much of your initial investment. Management does not keep valuable employees. Since they have to keep the share holders happy and balance the books with the expensive CCR fiasco, they look around for someone to lay off. They've been hiring off shore workers from India and we have train them. After a few weeks of this the long time loyal Walgreen employees get their job eliminated.

Pros

The employees will respect you and corporate will dangle the carrot (having your own store) in front of you which is the only reason most people stay. You will learn a lot and meet a lot of important people. You also come in contact with a lot of vendors so a good day to network if you ever want to work for pepsi-co or coca cola.

Cons

I made more as a Barista before college. They put you to work and expect you to run the store within 30-90 days of hands on training. You will work 8.5 hours a day, with a 30 minute lunch, there is no over time and you are on your feet for most of it. Depending on your location, some customers are very difficult to handle.
