Pros

"family" type closeness between employees, helping some of the most wonderful and interesting customers, good profit sharing plan, company helps you get certified, CEO and upper management keep us in formed about changes.

Cons

The biggest downside of working here is the politics. I have witnessed unfair treatment by management and withholding sick and vacation pay because management lost notes requesting the pay- then refusung a cash payout. When the issues are brought to district level or even higher, the issues get dismissed because the store's numbers are good. If you are under a management level-you're feelings and family life are not important. In store we are expected to cater to the abusive, mean customers (giving giftcards, apologies), but we can't show the wonderful customers how much we appreciate them by offering them giftcards or special offers.

Pros

Walgreens has good benefits, vacation, paid holidays, 6 sick days per year and even a special day you can take off. My management is great. Will work along side with you to get projects done and lets me take initiative and use my ideas in my department.

Cons

If you were to ask me about 6 months ago, I would have probably not been able to find any cons with my job. However, now with all of the "rewiring" they are doing, it has become increasingly hard to stay motivated and "proud" to work there. When you come to work, you have to worry that you may not have your position with the company. They have cut hours, jobs. I wanted to stay with Walgreens and eventually retire but with all these changes, that may be a thing of the past. What happened to the old Walgreens where they cared about the employees. What about the 4 way test that they have always stood by?

Pros

Stores are well designed for the corner store appeal. Plenty of locations to work at as there is a store on almst every corner

Cons

Bathrooms are always filthy since there is no onsite janitorial crew. Technicians are treated like second hand citizens but expected to be as knowledgable as the ultra high paid pharmacists.
