Pros

Good technology, the processing system is the best and constantly evolving. A lot of good people work for the company. Good money but not great, and you work for it.

Cons

Effective training is nonexistent. It always gets down to on-the-job. Older stores are in wretched shape-- after a few years the facilities are ghetto. Every communication from management, no matter how nicely the words say it, boils down to four things: 1. Do more 2. Do it faster 3. Do it with less help and 4. Do it perfectly because you might kill someone. Finally, pharmacists should never, ever have to answer to a non-pharmacist regarding the pharmacist's professional judgment.

Pros

It has good benefits, and the salary is good. They actually do promote from within. If you're not lazy or dumb you can usually move up at least a step or two.

Cons

they work you HARD. Work is almost always a zoo, and now they're talking about cutting hours even more.

Pros

Job Security. This is a company mostly run by pharmacists. Walgreens does pay very well. We tend to have the most advanced software in the pharmacy world. Pharmacists are treated very well.

Cons

Poor decisions made by upper level staff that doesnt make sense in a real world situation but looks good on paper. Upper level management tends to make decisions that do not really fit or work in a real world situation. This is a true cooporation in which the problem lies with cutting you hours, getting more work, then getting asked why the work isnt done. Treat non-pharmacy employees like pawns.
