Pros

I've only worked in the pharmacy for 6 months, however I have been with Walgreen for 2 years so far. But one of the good things are flexible hours. It's a clean job, ok pay for a college job. Nothing more. It also depends who you work with. The pharmacists usually tend to be pretty decent people. But sometimes if you get stuck with an @55hole you just want to shoot him/her and then yourself. Walgreens offers a discount to its employees. This discount isn't that great, because you can go out to Walmart, Target...anywhere and still pay less without the discount.

Cons

Working at Walgreen has been a good experience, however it has it's downsides to it. You will have to deal with unsatisfied people 24/7. A never ending line of people in drive through with insurance problems and such. This job makes you hate people that come into Walgreen period. Technicians work through so many problems with a million people daily and our pay isn't satisfactory. There is a lady that is a senior tech, and she's been there for about 15 years and after a while, you do not get any more raises even though inflation occurs and prices are going up. I think you can get paid up to $16/hr. Working here is like a sweatshop.

Pros

The benefits are awesome, including the benefit for a hassle free transfer to any store in the country that has a position open. The profit sharing package, for the last 3 years, for every dollar you put in, Walgreens has matched it with a $3 deposit. Fully vested after 6 years. Open Door Policy, you can go to any manager at any time for any issue. Despite what other disgruntled employees tell you, there is promotion potential for hard working, driven, and positive employees. 6 paid sick days a year (full time only). Flexibility with scheduling, generally management is willing to work with you on various things, 2nd job, babysitters, ect...

Cons

Well, unless you are management, the hourly starting wages are kind of on the low side. Lots of manual labor, even for management at the store level. Stressful dealings with customers. Sometimes ad items are out of stock or ring at the wrong price, sometimes making customers angry. We are open 365 days a year, so someone gets stuck working all of the holidays. In most of the stores, you cannot take vacation in November and December. January thru April are a slow time for retail, some hours may get cut. Sometimes you may be expected to do more work than you can physically handle.

Pros

The team I work with is strong--most are serious about doing a great job and being of value to the company. The benefits are a plus, as well as the weeks of paid time off. There is flexibility in scheduling work hours. There is the ability to "work out" during work hours by teaching exercise classes. I enjoy my coworkers and clients at the fitness center; it is a generally pleasant work environment.

Cons

It is difficult to advance in the company due to a very limited number of management positions. There are barely any travel opportunities (although some may consider this beneficial). Generally, no bonus(es) is/are received for quality work. Employees/instructors/trainers are not compensated equally at some of the same levels of hourly work.
