Pros

They pay you a dollar or two more an hour for the same job title as other places. The catch is that they require you to do a lot more. You get holiday pay whether or not you work on the holiday. You have an employee's discount. Some customers are sweet and some workers are nice but they come from all across the spectrum.

Cons

-They cut hours and ask for more, more, and more. Imagine if someone asked you to watch an hour long movie in 50 minutes everyday. Now imagine that each time they ask you to do that, they reduce the time that they want you to spend doing it. Impossible. There's simply not enough people to do the job right. You can work hard, get that blood flowing, and the adrenaline going but keeping up with the work, doing the job right, and satisfying management and customers all the time is too hard to do when you don't have enough time. The stress will lead you to an early death and a bigger paycheck for upper management. They stress efficiency but they must have no idea that there is a limit to how effcient you can be before you have to start sacrificing quality. As a result customers get angry, you get upset, management wonders why/knows why and has to side with the customer anyway. Walgreens will fall if it keeps this up.

Pros

There are opportunities to be involved from the ground up in one of the most visited websites in the world (400th). Walg has instant name recognition natoinally, if not internationally.

Cons

Business stakeholders are privileged, old guard and are not in touch with usability. "Agile," as elsewhere, does not mean scalable, it means bare-knuckled hurry up and get it out there - or else. There is consequently no deep understanding of process, because you have to care deeply about your web product to develop a process that truly (and not just in name) enables quality workmanship. The business analysis component is in disarray. This follows, since this function, at core, is ideally an arm of business strategy. Those close to the stakeholder side of the house will find stakeholders largely undisciplined ideators who don't understand the process of evaluating and implementing an idea - and then evaluating the implemented idea. They are driven by arbitrary timelines that, if accomplished, mean bonuses. The timelines have no relationship to the real time it takes to deliver a quality product. There is no UAT. Usabliity testing is in its infancy, although the shop has state-of-the-art equipment to accomplish this.

Pros

The money was pretty good for my first Job out of college. I aced the interview and was offered the job before I graduated from College, it was unexpected but I was so excited I took the job. Learned everything there is to know about retail and how to deal with people face to face and how to get others to follow your directions. It also gave me a very strong work ethic, because there is no way a "Manager can be late or call out EVER" I really needed that experience though.

Cons

THe schedule was miserable especially if you have a family or any kind of social life period. I didn't realize how depressed I was until I found a regular 8-5 job and off on weekends. I feel like I have my life back now. I Never got recognition or praise, was very micro managed and given a list to accomplish every night while running the pharmacy, front of the store and closing the store all by myself. VERY STRESSFUL!!!!!
