Pros

The place is good for the short run, either working for the first time or just earning a couple bucks. Some of the staff is friendly, you get somewhat of a choice (if the position is available) of where you would like to work. Its one of the very few employers that are still hiring tons during the recession. Its an alright place to work for in the short-run... three to five months.

Cons

In addition to very high turnover, management has very poor leadership skills. They do not care about the employee, just the fact that they are earning the store money. Their don't communicate with each other amongst the Managers, which means you could end up doing the same job three or four times. They don't care what you have going on at the moment, they will want you to do extra jobs that will take up 90% of your work time and expect your area to be 100% perfect. They put down the veteran employees to try to get them to leave so they can replace them with newer employees at a lower wage. They have a poor evaluation system; you have to evaluate yourself, and they do not take that into consideration when they to the actual evaluation. They have very bad scheduling, they could have four people on the back wall one night and one the next. If you can work the entire back wall by yourself one night, expect to do it again and again in the many shifts to come. The managers are only their to justify their existence, they do not care about the lower people they step on to achieve their successes.

Pros

Either looking for a job to make a couple bucks or a first job, it is an okay place to work for. The pay is okay, a little above minimum wage, the benefits are okay if you stay there for a little while. Some of the people working are alright. A good place to work in the short-term

Cons

In addition to very high turnover, some managers have very poor leadership skills. Half the time they don't communicate with each other, so you find yourself doing the same job three or four times. It is very hard to find management on the sales floor, so don't expect to see them much. They have a tendency to put down the veteran associates, find ways to make them uncomfortable to work for Walmart so they can replace them with newer employees at a lower wage. Management doesn't really care which specific department you work in, they will always assign special projects for you to complete which take up 90% of your work day and on top of that, have your department 100%. Scheduling is very bad, one night you'll find that there are four people on the Wall Departments, and the next night you'll only find one, and if you can make it through the night, then expect the next night to be the same. Management shows little to no praise for people doing their jobs well, they just find ways to criticize. Walmart's expect high standards with the least possible, making it incredibly difficult to complete primary tasks at hand. They'll take advantage of a person's ability to complete multiple tasks and give him the jobs and tasks of five people to save money. Their evaluation system is nothing to be desired as they do not take into account the self-appraisals. Not worth the time and trouble to build a career at.

Pros

the pay was pretty good, worked with people around my age, the job was very easy didn't take much thought. You get a discount, that was really nice since i had just gone off to college. Since you worked a single lane you could be by your self for long periods of time and it would get very boring.

Cons

Customers could be very rude. Often managers would not be on top of when people need brakes or when they got off. I would often but one of the late night cashiers and right when i was supposed to go home a rush of people would come and i would be expected to stay sometimes as long as a hour. Over all i would say more cons than pros i will never work here again
