Pros

Starting salary- yet minimal/no raise

Cons

I worked at Wawa for 4 years and was beyond grateful when I quit. I've promised myself to never work for this company again. The work load was too much to squeeze in 1 shift. Employees were often "talked to" by management if they weren't keeping up with the pace. Frequent discouraging visits from corporate. Management make the work load and environment far too stressful. After leaving this job I've had 2 other jobs that pay well and treat me fairly. My current jobs have further proven to me how terrible of a business wawa is. Managers constantly complained that their work load was too much, just as regular employees complained the same. You can never ACTUALLY be sick and call off work or you'll get the cold shoulder and accused of lying! Customers constantly treat employees terribly but management will always defend the customer because that is all corporate cares about. Wawa presents the idea that all workers are "family" but quickly transfer workers when employees become too close. I will never work there again!

Fast-paced is an understatement.

Pros

Healthy salary, bonus potential is poor in low volume and great in high volume, all paid monthly. Salary and Bonus is equivalent to most big box salary. Benefits are decent. Good programs for employees, good community outreach, senior leadership knows you personally and hear what you have to say, trying to make positive changes.

Cons

If you like taking your time to develop and mentor others, this is not for you. Poor work/life balance as it is a very physical job with little to no time to plan/organize for the future, more of a 'go, now, go' type of management style but not in a healthy way. I emphasize physical as you will be on your feet 9+ hours every day and there's a program designed to determine the amount of time you have (regardless of need) for each task i.e. 8 minutes for this, 18 for this, 26 for that, etc. Your work cannot be completed properly if you find yourself wanting to spend more time on a specific metric or in a staffing shortage as you will need to drain time from one area to focus on your other objectives, or work more hours than you are scheduled, then you have to explain to your boss daily why you were over labor target. See the spiral? Recent changes have created the chaotic environment and lack of balance that used to be there. 15 years of solid performance is negated by 1 year of poor performance and a trip to the back burner and lower volume.
