Management and employees is always unstable... You never know who will be there the next hour because upper management changes everything so much. I understand "embrace change", which is one of the 'Wawa values', but you can only embrace it so much in a day to where it just becomes too much to handle.
All managers are different - one tells you how to do something, another one tells you a different way doing it. Even though there are directions and rule books to follow, you will never do anything right because even upper management will say it's wrong.
Favoritism is high everywhere and Wawa is one of them. As hard as you work and as many hours you put in for the company, it doesn't matter. You will not get promoted if every single upper management doesn't like you. Professionalism is low!
Management expects you to be there every single hour and day you're scheduled. They don't care if you have any type of personal, family, any emergency; they'll tell you that you absolutely have to go to work still. If you don't go to work, they'll hold it against you forever. And if you're on your day off and they call you in to work, they'll force you. It's like you don't have a choice. I've gotten picked up from my place by management to go work, but they don't give you a ride back home! I worked there while I was pregnant up until I was 8 months and it is HELL ON EARTH. They don't care about the well-being of their employees, they only care about the business and the hoagies and coffee that should be selling out the door! Business is business, but a business won't operate with employees and that's why Wawa is always hiring... People are always leaving and it's not just because, it's because management is unstable and the stress is overwhelmingly high. They'll show you how great they are in the beginning, but that goes away as soon as you clock in. Life is misery once you're on the clock.
