Pros

Fun events, snacks, parties, culture

Cons

1. Dark Office Politics and hidden secrets 2. No job security. Quick hire and fire policy. I have seen they have fired people without warnings, Don't even inform their team about firing to maintain a myth of good environment 3. Work depends on the team you are working on: either people find it too boring and stagnant or too much pressurized . 4. Try to lure employees by throwing parties but no actual holidays or sick leaves.

Pros

- Free beer (to drown your sorrows?) - Snacks

Cons

- LOW compensation, I'm talking $15k underpaid in the current Boston market - PMs really don't value the hard work and time put in by creative - Expectations to be a business leader are strangely high for designers - Your machine/Apple computer will only work 60% of the time because IT can't figure out the issue (whole company works on PCs) - Low mobility and ability to manage up

Pros

Kind coworkers, friendly stakeholders, LinkedIn Learning, well-decorated offices

Cons

Incredible turnover, uncompetitive pay, unstable operations, no support from senior management, and an incredibly toxic and racist environment. Working at Wayfair was a horrible experience. Because of my lower position compared to others on my team, plenty of responsibilities fell on me as a "stretch opportunity" even though it was just an excuse to overwork and underpay me. Each review cycle, I outperformed most people on my team and set the bar in a handful of metrics; however, minor opportunity areas (such as one-off mistakes that were not trivial) prevented me from getting the title and compensation I deserved. It was exhausting to take on more and more projects without proper recognition and pay. There was a metaphorical carrot that was continuously dangled over my head, which only resulted in extreme burnout and no promise for my career growth. Furthermore, upper management takes credit for the work that the L1s and L2s produce, only looking out for themselves and not the greater team. Finally, stop talking about DEI efforts and actually start to make actionable change.
