How do I even begin to describe what a degrading experience this has been?
Long work weeks, mandatory parties and weekend/nighttime meetings, everyone is 22-26 years old and has had no prior managerial experience in their short life out of college. The young age should really be a factor in considering whether or not to work here. If you even remotely want to see friends, your partner, or god forbid you're married or have children - save yourself! Nobody here is in a functional relationship, anyone over the age of 35 is divorced or currently going through the process of it, and there is no true recognition or upward mobility for those in the community team. The amount of pressure put on young adults to "hustle harder" (yes they have stickers that say this) and not ask for anything in return is unbearable at best and a manipulative power play at worst.
They want you to be quiet and be thankful for the opportunity to work for them, while most people live in fear every day of being fired for a random reason. Maybe all the clique-y 24 year old managers who still live with their parents don't correctly give feedback or constructive criticism to the team?
At Summer Camp 2017, one of the CEOs, demanded that we pay more attention to his speech. Not being cognizant (or caring?) of the fact all of us flew from countries around the world that previous night, and then took a 3.5 hour bus from the airport, to immediately be herded into an area and sit down to a 4 hour long presentation without being given food or water first. People were obviously tired / sleepy / hungry, and this apparently yielded disbelief. He reminded us of how expensive this was for them and that we should sit upright and ought to show some respect.
Work somewhere else where you can work a normal schedule and don't have people pressuring you to drink & go out with them or reprimanding anyone who asks about people who were ghost-fired. The culture here is unbelievably toxic.
