Pros

The opportunity WeddingWire has provided me in terms of career growth has been incredible. They helped me go from someone who just graduated college, to someone who has the freedom to make a meaningful difference on our Marketing team. I feel trusted amongst my teammates, and the feeling is mutual. We are constantly innovating, researching, and pushing one another to find the best possible route for a given project, and each and every learning experience is a gift. On a more personal level, each team is pretty close knit - and departments do many team building activities/trips/events to promote good camaraderie. From a corporate standpoint, there are also a lot of opportunities to mingle with those in different departments, along with great company parties/happy hours to reward hard work! For a company that has grown exponentially in my time here (there were 130 employees when I joined, now there are around 600+ internationally), I'm extremely impressed with how even when there have been blips, they are handled with grace, learned from, and corrected. Complacency rarely exists, and if it does, it's not long lived. On a final note, the Exec team is tremendous. They make a true effort to get to know their employees BY NAME, and will never hesitate to greet you in passing. It's great to feel like you go to work everyday working for people you actually like, instead of the usual grind of corporate America.

Cons

I believe WeddingWire gives us the freedom to determine our professional destinies - and with hard (and smart!) work, you won't be disappointed. However, the work environment may not suit everyone. For example, we have a ping pong table, speakeasy, unlimited PTO, etc - and these things are meant to be used to the extent that they don't interfere with your productivity. If you're unable to manage your time due to these distractions (or those similar), it's possible you'll have a hard time succeeding.

Pros

Wonderful culture full of young, fun people who work hard. Very positive and motivated, well compensated and reasonable/personal relationship with managers who truly care about your improvement at the company (whether for you or for the company, who knows). They have a foozball table, massage chairs, ping pong table, cater lunch frequently, cater breakfast daily, and treat their employees well. I didn't work there too long but still had one-on-one conversations with the CMO, COO, and CTO, pretty rare considering I was an entry level position.

Cons

"Unlimited PTO"--yeah well....sure that could be true, but they advertise it like crazy. For all you college kids just entering the job hunt, note that unlimited PTO will not be an option for you wherever you work, and as fun as the environment might be, that's also true here. It's a sales gig so you're going to be expected to put your nose to the grindstone and dial. Territory assignments are a bit sketchy and sometimes you kinda get screwed but can't really say that.

Pros

- majority of coworkers are amazing and genuinely nice people - fun product to sell - flexibility to work from home sometimes - decent benefits - fun parties

Cons

- STRESS - "unlimited" PTO is not a benefit because the sales quotas are ridiculously high and people are afraid to take time off for fear of not hitting goal - Quotas keep increasing even though last year our quotas were lowered significantly because renewal assistance was taken away; so now what's the justification for the increase? (if the answer is price increase, that is no justification because we have to discount significantly to make sales which then forces us to make more sales to be successful) - meetings that are a waste of time - management that isn't clued in; I no longer feel comfortable having my manager call a vendor because they're not comfortable selling or how to position the questions correctly - instituting a performance plan just a short time prior to quota increase - having reps pay for staffing issues (quotas going up across the board when we are understaffed)

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. As you referenced, you know first hand as a current employee that we collect feedback regularly from various channels, take everything we hear very seriously and do our best to make adjustments. We recognize there has been change with quota structure on our Sales team over the past year. WeddingWire has been in a phase of high growth and with that comes change and challenges but also excitement and opportunity for global growth and success. As we work to scale as seamlessly as possible, we know it isn’t a perfect process. Nevertheless, we remain focused as our continued global expansion will not only benefit the vendors that we sell to and the consumers they serve but also our nearly 1,000 employees across the world. It is clear that you’re feeling these challenges personally and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in person. If you prefer, you’re welcome to speak directly with our Sales Team HR Business Partner or any other sales leader you’re comfortable with. Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your perspective.
